Hey there, it's me.. just your average soap maker turned skin care company owner turned mom. I've been making soap for a little over 9 years and let me tell you, there is always something to learn. Whether I'm learning from other soapers, researching something in my herb and oil books, or learning simply from trial and error... I am always continuing to learn.
When I first started HBC Organics, I wanted to educated my customers about the products they were using and help them find what was best for their skin-- even if the products were not my own.. yeah I'm that committed.
In 2019, I decided I wanted to get back to the basics, while still offering high quality products. I wanted to get back what brought me joy & what made my heart smile.. and that was making more soaps. For a long time, I just made what was "needed" for the business. I had a handful of customers who needed cold process soap so I made sure I had what they needed. I also send cold process soap out in subscription boxes. Occasionally, I would blend some oils & butters together to make something awesome & new, but it was few and far between.
So I began making soap. 2-5 batches a day. I created beautiful loafs, adding dried rose petals, hibiscus, and other herbs. All of the soap.. and to my surprise my customers responded with all the support in the universe. My following on instagram steadily grew and even my following on Facebook. So here we are, making all the soap & my heart is smiling so hard that I can't keep the smile off of my face!
While I still make our lovely facial products, candles, luxurious & non greasy body butters, baby products, and more... I've carved out more time to expand the handcrafted soaps from 3-5 different bars at a time to 10-15 different bars in the shop.
Here is some education about cold process soap. I'm hoping after reading this you will give my bars a try! It just might be time to break up with the commercial soaps!
1- Provide your skin (hair & scalp if you use shampoo bars) with essential vitamins and minerals to contribute to a healthy glow.
2- Moisturize deeply without clogging pores. The saponified oils, such as coconut, olive, and avocado oils don’t lose their benefits with the cold process method like they would if it was hot process method. So you get all the benefits while cleaning your skin.
3- Contrary to popular belief, truly natural bar soaps do not dry out the skin the way commercial bars or body washes will. They actually moisturize & nourish the skin while properly cleansing it. You don’t want to remove ALL oil from your skin, just the excess.
4- They provide a rich, creamy lather that lasts longer (which can be great on the wallet) as long as they are properly cared for. Bonus points - buy the right kind of bar & you can use them head to toe!
5- Reduce the appearance of acne marks, scars, and aging spots & provide a more youthful appearance by smoothing out fine lines! *so long as it is a natural bar*
We could also get into the fact that many bar soaps & shower gels that are bought in large, commercial stores actually have some ingredients that make you scratch your head (literally & figuratively). When you buy products that are commerically made, more times than not.. like 9 times out of 10... probably more... you are buying products that have endocrine disrupting chemicals in them.
People Listen To Me:
Your skin is your largest organ! It also is the organ that communicates with us more than most organs in the body. It speaks louder, but we tend to ignore it. If something is wrong internally, your skin will begin to show it-- just as the Chinese Medicine Gurus... They can do facial mapping on you & probably tell you which organs you need to support more and ... ahem... where your nutrition is as well.
Feed your skin the good stuff. Cleanse it with saponified virgin oils & butters. In doing so, you will moisturize, exfoliate, and clean your skin to a beautiful glow!
Who am I?
My name is Jes! I am the earth loving, natural parenting, Jesus loving weirdo your mama might have warned you about! I am the owner of an organic, chemical free skin care product line, called HBC Organics.
