If you are making the avocado version--- omit the butter or omit one avocado -- your choice!
As I was scrolling through pinterest the other night I ran across this amazing looking recipe! I have to admit-- my mouth was watering and I felt like I NEEDED this bread!
I haven't been one to have too many cravings so far in my pregnancy-- 3 to be exact! I might want something that isn't so healthy for me-- but unlike most pregnant women, I DO NOT see being pregnant as an excuse to eat unhealthy. I honestly feel like it is the most important time to eat healthy!
So as I looked the recipe over a few times, I decided that I would make it but made quite a bit of changes to the recipe!
Here are my changes:
3 Organic Mashed Bananas or 3 Organic Mashed Avocados (for those of you who don't want the banana aftertaste)
1/2 Cup Amish Butter or Kerigold- melted
3/4 Cup Raw Honey (you can use a whole cup if you want a sweeter tasting bread! especially if you make it with avocados instead of bananas!)
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1/4 Tsp Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
1 Tsp Aluminum Free Baking Soda, I like this kind.
1/2 Cup Oat Flour (Or get your own organic, wheat free, oats and process them in the food processor until flour like)
1/2 Cup Almond Flour
3/4 Cup Cacao-- I used the darkest I could find, this kind
1/2 Cup Homemade Chocolate Chunks-- or regular chocolate chunks, I like this brand.
1/2 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips, I like this brand
Follow the rest of the directions!
Preheat oven to 350. Mix all but the chocolate chips & chunks together. Gently fold the chocolate chunks into the mixture. Put in a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle mini chips on top. Bake 55-60 minutes.
This turned out amazing!! I absolutely loved it! I will be making it again-- maybe in muffins next time or donut shapes!

-- a few things to know --
The batter will be thicker-- almost like homemade cake.
Try putting this in a cake pan, possibly. I made this in a bread pan and it was good but it's super moist like a cake-- so I recommend putting this in a cake pan!
End result!! I was too impatient to let it cool in the loaf pan! Haha! Yay for being pregnant & not being able to be patient! I can't even feel bad--- this is brain food! It has avocados, honey, farm fresh egg, organic butter-- all good stuff! Good fats for the intestine, brain, and nerves!!
I have started writing this post and deleted it about 4 times. FOUR times!
........so here it goes...
I am seeing an epidemic, yes an epidemic, of people who are working out or eating "healthy" in order to be skinny. They aren't doing this to lose weight but to be skinny. People are setting these goals to LOOK like certain models, random people they follow on Instagram, or people they see at the gym. Your GOAL should NEVER be to LOOK like someone else.
There is nothing wrong about having goals and setting goals. If you want to have toned abs-- then work for it. Change your diet & workout routine to your goals-- just don't give up HEALTHY foods because you want to look a certain way. It is all about balance.
........You will not look like someone else & I am going to tell you why.....
We are all different. We all have different DNA (unless you have an identical twin). We all have different thought patterns. We have different blood types. We have different metabolic types. We are either sympathetic dominant or parasympathetic dominant or somewhere in the middle. We all are DIFFERENT!
I'm not saying it is wrong to have inspiration boards-- those are great.. but they are meant to INSPIRE you-- not for you to copy... You are BEAUTIFUL & STRONG.
Now let me explain a little further...
I'm not saying that it is wrong to workout and eat so that you can say tone or tighten certain areas of your body like your abs or your legs. BUT the overall reason people should be eating healthy & working out is for their HEALTH. You should be more concerned about your health than having tightened and toned muscles.
I have seen so many meal plans that have low fat/no fat. High carb or low carb. Super high protein. Low protein. You mention it, I have seen it and studied it! Honestly... people need to realize that they need to NOURISH their body FIRST! Then begin working towards whatever goal that they have.
STOP THE JUDGEMENT
STOP THE SHAMING! Stop looking at yourself and judging & shaming yourself.What good is judging yourself doing you? What good is being hard on yourself doing for you? What good is getting down on yourself doing? Did you know there is power in positive thinking??? Instead of seeing how far you have to go-- see each and every bit of progress you make and be happy about you can SEE a physical change yet-- remember that you are doing great things in your body-- Working out and getting active is great for your cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, and even your digestive system. A very wise woman named Bessheen Baker says "Healthy is not a flower you pick but a path you must follow."
Being Healthy is a never ending process. You won't ruin your health over eating that piece of cake, but you aren't going to greatly increase your health if you eat a salad.
EVERYTHING is about BALANCE
I have also seen many clients who are working out and eating healthy -- but just aren't losing the weight. There are so many reasons for this! It could be hormonal, it could be toxins, it could be certain organs not doing their job to their fullest potential, or are you ready for this??? It could be EMOTIONAL.
I have SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE who have EMOTIONAL baggage that is manifested in their weight and their health! People will sit in judgement of themselves and their body. They are either too big, too small, too tall, too short, have love handles, don't have toned abs, thighs touch, thighs don't touch... you name it-- people judge themselves about it!
How about we try something? Let's try an exercise---
Take a post-it note or some type of paper... and write the following & say it daily-- and damnit you better mean it & believe it! You can write your own version-- but here is an example-- for a mom trying to get her pre-pregnancy body back:
"Thank you body! Thank you for the SACRIFICE that you made for 9-10 months. THANK YOU for being strong. I APPRECIATE you! I LOVE YOU! You are BEAUTIFUL. YOU are ENOUGH."
Let me explain one more thing.....
---Let me repeat---
***There is NOTHING wrong with setting goals & working towards them. But STOP being so HARD on yourself! LOVE yourself. LOVE your body! It is doing amazing things! APPRECIATE your body. Stop starving it your body & mind and start NOURISHING it. Eat nourishing and nutrient dense foods. Food is your friend- not your enemy!***

Now-- I'm not talking about the sauerkraut you will find in your average grocery store..
