I LOVE cabbage! I love it raw, steamed, baked, grilled, boiled, and even fermented! It is an amazing addition to any meal in my opinion. The funny thing is cabbage is beyond amazing for you health!

Years ago when sailors used to travel back and forth between the European & North American continents, they would get scurvy. One of the best ways to prevent scurvy is with Vitamin C & Fermented Foods. So the sailors would begin taking cabbage & citrus fruits with them when they were sailing to prevent scurvy.

Here are 11 Reasons why cabbage is amazing for your health:
1:  Slows the Aging Process: It is full of Vitamin C & Vitamin A- which play a huge role in anti-aging!
2: Prevents colon cancer: There are many studies that show that people who eat large amounts of cabbage are far less likely to develop colon cancer. It is chock full of healthy fiber that is amazing for keeping your bowels moving regularly and not leaving behind much waste at all.
3: Heals Ulcers: Especially Red Cabbage! Eat about 1/4 of a raw red cabbage (per day) if you are having ulcers and it will heal very quickly.
4: Heals & Prevents Cataracts: Cabbage is high in Vitamin A & Beta Carotene, which are essential for healthy eyes & healthy vision.
5: Clears Skin: Cabbage is full of  Vitamin D which is effective in the treatment of acne. Cabbage juice is best for this.
6: Boosts the immune system: An ingredient in cabbage called  sulforaphane helps to create antioxidants which fight infections within the body.
7: Boosts Energy: High in B Vitamins which support your adrenal health & boosts energy naturally.
8: Promotes Strength: Cabbage helps to build muscle within the body.
9: Treats fungal infections: Cabbage has a very high amount of the mineral, Sulfur, which is effective in killing off fungi.
10: Promotes silky smooth hair: The high sulfur content in cabbage also helps to keep the scalp healthy and gives the hair a nice shine.
11: Relieves sore muscles: This is perfect for when you change up your workout routine and you are extremely sore. Cabbage will give your body the proper amount of lactic acid and makes sure it doesn't get stuck in the muscles.

Make your own butter!

I always like to find ways to make products myself rather than go to the store and buy them. Especially when you learn that there are certain additives that manufacturers do not have to put on the label.

A current article I am working on-- about Saturated Fats--will explain why saturated fat is so good for you, but here are a few reasons:
- nourishes the nerves
-supports the brain
-supports the development of the brain and nerves from the time of conception
-the heart muscle prefers saturated fat (...I know.. completely different from what us "heart patients" have been told over the years)

One of my favorite saturated fats is butter! I learned how to make butter at home-- it is super simple so follow along!

What you need:
-A standing mixer (or hand mixer)
-Organic Heavy Cream
Picture
Picture
Step one: Pour the cream into the mixer

Step 2: Turn on the mixer to about 4 -6 speed

Step 3: Keep mixing and it will start to look the whipped cream
Picture
Step 4: Keep mixing- you can even turn the speed up a notch if you want to--- as a few minutes go by the fat will begin to separate from the milk and it will start looking like this:
Picture
Step 5: With a spatula, push down the whipped cream that is on the sides of the bowl and keep whipping it
Picture
Step 6: You will know when the fat has fully separated because the butter will all be in the attachment like this:
Picture
Step 7: Now, pull the butter out of the attachment and place it on cheesecloth
Picture
Step 8: Wrap the cheesecloth around the butter and squeeze the rest of the milk out. This will also bind the butter together
Picture
Step 9: Remove the cheesecloth and you will end up with  ball shaped butter
Picture
Step 10: The butter is pliable- so if you don't mind having butter that is ball shaped you are all done. If you want butter to be stick like-- you can mold it to make a rectangle and then refrigerate and then cut it in half! Then you are all done! Enjoy!

The benefits of Raw Milk

The people of the United States have not fully decided if Raw Milk is "okay" and "healthy" but I must say it is one of the most nourishing and healthiest things I have ever had in my entire life.

Raw milk has all 20 of the standard amino acids, which lets our body take a rest from trying to make them since we are providing it in our food.

It is full of immunoglobullins which has tons of antibodies which ward off viruses, bacteria, and other illnesses. It has also been shown to to decrease the symptoms of asthma!

About two thirds of the fat in milk is saturated. Saturated fats play a number of important roles in our bodies. They construct cell membranes and key hormones, they provide energy storage and padding for delicate organs, and they serve as a vehicle for important fat-soluble vitamins. Also when you have the proper fat soluble vitamins, you can assimilate your minerals much better!

The coolest thing about raw milk, it has both water soluble and fat soluble vitamins-- which is way cool. It isn't often that one can find something with both fat and water soluble vitamins in abundance!

My personal testimony to raw milk is that when I was pretty ill after coming home from the hospital after my latest heart incident. I couldn't really eat or drink much of anything without getting sick. I started drinking raw milk as a last hope. After the first glass I began feeling stronger, after the second I had color to my face, and after the third my headache went away, and after my fourth glass I no longer was having diarrhea (a horrible side effect to my episodes with my heart).  I did some research and even  found out that raw milk is full of enzymes that aid in proper digestion and help you to assimilate nutrients more properly. Also it is full of saturated fat! Do you guys know how much fat I eat?! I eat lots of fat! I will be posting an article about the importance of fat in your daily diet soon- but I eat at least 2 sticks of butter or more per day when it comes to fat... and well guys I am pretty thin!

So if you are in states that allow for the sale of Raw Milk- start drinking it! If you are in the states where it is illegal unless you are drinking from a cow you "own" -- so find a co-op and pay a yearly fee! Drink up !!!

Foods you should be eating....

Bone Broth: It is amazing for healing the body. Based on your blood type you can figure out which kind is the best. It heals leaky gut syndrome which is basically what happens when people get vaccinations and when people have allergies! It nourishes the liver and kidneys. It even helps to have the blood supply create more platelets. It stimulates the nervous system and nourishes the nerves with the fats. In America we are afraid of fat! Don't be afraid of fat! Fat unless it is trans-fat is good for you. Especially saturated fat and animal fats!

Beets: Beets are one of my favorite foods to have people eat! They will help balance the body's pH! Have you ever done the beet test? Eat a few raw beets or a glass or two of juice. When you urinate, if your urine isn't a beet color, then you are too acidic- so how do you fix that? Well you eat more beets! It also has the natural mineral of sodium! When you take in beets, it will balance the body's sodium- it will get rid of the nasty table salt. It will help decrease the excess water in your system as well! Stay tuned to learn more about beets!
Avocados: They are rich in monounsaturated fat! It is amazing for your brain & nerves. It is also one of the first foods a baby should be eating! They have twice the amount of potassium that a banana has. It is chock full of B Vitamins, Folic Acid, Vitamin E, and Fiber!
Picture
Free Range Eggs: When chickens are allowed to roam the pasture so to speak, they are able to eat things that are normal to their diet such as worms, bugs, insects, and seeds. One egg carries tons of choline which supports the heart, lutein for the eyes, and at least 9 different amino acids! Amino Acids are the carries of proteins in the body! It also naturally carried Vitamin B12 which most vegetarians are very low in! Eat some eggs!
