Since I have been sick and dealing with a sinus infection I have been eating certain foods. The best thing I was able to eat was this wild rice and veggie soup I created. Here is the recipe:
1 bag of mixed frozen organic veggies
2 cups of veggie stock
2 cups of water
3 garlic cloves
1 small onion chopped
1 cup dry mixed brown and wild black rice
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
pinch of oregano
pinch of parsley
pinch of herbs de providence
pinch of kosher salt
pinch of black pepper
-In a small pot, put chopped onion & chopped garlic cloves in with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
-Sautee about 3 minutes
-Add the vegetable stock & water
-Add the frozen veggies, cook on med-low
-While you are cooking the veggies and stock, cook the rice in a rice cooker
-When the rice is done cooking add the rice and spices
-Bring to a boil for a minute or two
-Enjoy with some hot sauce or just plain!
I have been on a journey for a few years that has lead me to learn to love myself. Growing up I happened to surround myself with people who were "Debbie Downers".
It took me a while but after getting burned a few times I have learned that a lot of the people who bring you down are those who are not happy with their life or love themselves.
Loving yourself is a very important factor in your overall mental health. Your mental health also affects your physical health. Five years ago I met the man of my dreams. He told me (and still tells me) everyday how much he loves me and that I am beautiful. He tells me the things that I do that make me amazing and set me apart from others. I began to see how he told me the things he loved about me but there were so many things I hated about me. So what did I do? I figured out the things I truly didn't like about myself- and then I took my best foot forward to change them. I found something that I truly enjoyed and pursued it- Holistic health and alternative medicine. In October 2012, I graduated with honors from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
My husband and I got married in May 2012, and using that as a point in life when things changed... I found that I have become more positive and can see the good in people and in life. My relationship with the Lord has made leaps and bounds. I honestly can look at myself in the mirror everyday and to be honest I know the things I don't like about myself but I work on them daily. I also see the good deep down that comes out daily.
If you find yourself in a rut and are having trouble loving yourself- it looks like it is time for you to get balanced! Schedule an appointment with me today for a FREE health history consultation- and I will help you get on the road to loving yourself!
... to apologize for not posting as much lately! I got a pretty bad closed head injury November 4th and I am still recovering. I have been making Healthy by Choice's health & beauty products, I just don't spend much time in front of the computer due to the headaches I get when I stare at the screen now!
Not to worry, I will be back on my feet and blowing up your newsfeed with health-related articles!
Again if there is a topic someone would like me to cover, comment, send me a email, message on facebook, or tweet me and I will post an article right away! I haven't been getting many questions or emails lately so I am not sure what to post for everyone!
Other than that I have been doing my best to get back in the swing of things!
Who am I?
My name is Jessica Kellaway! I am the earth loving, natural parenting, Jesus loving weirdo your mama might have warned you about!
