Back in 2012, when I first began making soaps & body butters, I had no idea that it was going to be something I would do full time. Honestly, I really thought that it was just going to be something to fill my time as we navigated my health. As time has gone on, HBC Organics has gone through many changes. Being a small business, we are continually faced with hurdles. In 2019 alone, we have faced social media algorithm issues, had to buy out our contract with a marketing company, and more. In 2018, we also faced many of issues- such as hiring an assistant that stole from us and more. We've seen our fair share of issues and setbacks and always just chugged along. Any business can face the tough things and it is never ever easy to admit that we might need some help.

“They never smoked a day in their life, I don’t know why they have/had lung cancer” 🤯
How many times have you heard this? Probably a lot right?
I have heard it more times than I can count. I usually have a come back to this question that makes people super uncomfortable...

Did they burn paraffin wax candles? What about those fancy wax melts ?
Is it just me, or has there been a charcoal craze in the last few years? You can find it in the pharmacy, natural health food stores, in your skincare products, and heck, we've even seen it in deodorants! Well the craze is for great reason.
Activated charcoal is a fine black powder made from coconut shells, bone char, peat, coal, olive pits, or saw dust. (In case you were wondering, HBC Organics only uses activated charcoal from coconut shells). The charcoal becomes activated by processing it at really really high temperatures. The high temperatures change the internal structure and reduces the size of the pores and increases its surface area. This makes activated charcoal more porous than regular charcoal.
Who am I?
