![]() So coconut water is something that has been hitting the shelves a lot recently. Plus you read about it in fitness & health magazines. So what is the big hype? Well here it is! First of all coconut water is more hydrating than water. I know it is hard to believe huh? It is true though, my husband- who is in the navy and currently stationed in Pensacola, FL drinks one bottle of it at least a day. He marches and does PT outdoors and burns more calories than he ever has. He said that when he replaces water with coconut water he doesn't get cramps in his muscles like he does when he drinks water. Coconut water is naturally fat and cholesterol free. There are about 60 calories though, so they can add up quickly. So I would suggest just drinking one bottle a day. It is known to cure hangovers. It is said that it is important in treating cancer as well. It is a great drink for chemo patients as well. It is rich in potassium- which can be an explanation for athletes saying that their muscles don't cramp up even in the most humid conditions. It detoxifys the body. It is literally from a coconut- and coconut is a superfood. So by the transitive property- good for you! It is composed of unique chemicals such as sugars, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, enzymes, amino acids, cytokine, and phyto-hormones. All of those vitamins & minerals are a huge factor in maintaining the immune system. The immune system keeps you alive! Research studies suggest that cytokinins (e.g., kinetin and trans-zeatin) in coconut water showed significant anti-ageing, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-thrombotic effects.either Coconut water is also a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, pyridoxine, and folates. These vitamins are essential in the sense that the human body requires them from external sources to replenish. So all in all- I would say that coconut water is one of the best medicinal drinks out there. I would suggest that people drink one bottle of it a day. Even if you don't like the flavor of the coconut water you should drink it up. I don't like the taste of coconut water but I make sure it is cold and I drink it quickly with a straw after a long/hard workout. It gives me instant energy and helps me recover from my workout. :) |
