Raw greens are good for you! We all know that! I have a lot of clients and facebook followers who constantly ask me what to do with greens besides but them in a smoothie or eat them as a salad.
Let me tell you-- if that is all you have been doing with your greens (kale, turnip greens, radish greens, chard, bok-choy, lettuce, romaine, etc) you are missing out!! Like seriously! There is so much you can do with greens!
Greens can be added to many dishes and offer tons of great nutrients and tons of flavor you had no idea was there!
You can add them to your rice or quinoa.
To do this:
-Cook your rice or quinoa or other grain.
-Put some butter or coconut oil in a skillet and melt it.
-Add in some fresh cut onions and minced garlic
-Sautee a few minutes
-Add in a few handfuls of greens. (my favorite for this is kale, spinach, or turnip greens)
-The greens with make a snap, crackle, and pop sound. This is okay! They will cook down quickly as well.
-When you see they have cooked down, simply add your rice or quinoa to the skillet with the greens.
-Add some herbs & salt & pepper, and even a little extra garlic powder and it turns out amazing!
You can take bok-choy, romaine, red romaine, etc and cut it in half and grill it! It's amazing!
Here is what you do!
-Chop your greens in half.
-Pour a SMALL amount of oil over the middle
-Add your favorite herbs and spices
-Cook over an open flame on the grill until you start to notice the greens getting really green or some char on them
-Pull them off the grill
-Add some tomatoes or brushetta to it! Yum!
You can add spinach or other greens to your favorite dishes and you wouldn't even know it (besides seeing it!)
Make your favorite macaroni and cheese dish or casserole. Add in a few handfuls of fresh spinach and cook down and walla! Enjoy!
You can also add spinach to brownie badder or cake badder. Just add a few handfuls of spinach and cook the badder like normal.
Last but not least
Fry em up in some butter or coconut oil!
-Get some quality butter (grass fed) or coconut oil
-melt in pan
-add some onions, shallots, garlic, and/or spices
-sautee for a couple of minutes
-Add in a few handfuls of greens
-snap crackle pop
-sautee those babies down!
-Enjoy with some salt & pepper & even hot sauce
