Connor Sargent's Memorial Soaps
I began making memorial soaps a few years back & fell in love with the idea. I had a family come to me & asked me to make some batches of soap that reminded them of their loved one. When the soaps were completed, they sent a bar of soap to each person that they sent "thank you" cards to for attending the funeral, bringing food, etc.
In December of 2019, my Grandmother suddenly passed away & I found myself looking to cope by making a batch of soap. I put together a few random extracts and found myself at a loss for words because the soap smelled just like her home. I made a couple batches and made it available to the public. That soap is known as Mackinac Honey.
My brother, Connor, passed away August 29th, 2020 due to a car accident... the morning after my 30th birthday. To say that the pain is immeasurable is an understatement. I found myself wanting to do something in his name. He loved coming down to my workshop & testing scents & even blended a few of his own. He helped me come up with which scents would go well together & he even tested out all the Autumn & Winter collections before anyone else saw them this year.
I decided to make 2 soaps in his memory & I will explain them both below:
Well Anything Goes
Well Anything Goes is the first batch I made. I took the soap shavings from all the different soaps I've made in 2020 & ground them down so that they would look a bit like confetti. It seems like everyone who knew my brother knew a different part of him... and those parts of him that are in us will never die. So the inspiration behind this soap is all the different specks are all the parts of us that made up Connor & all the parts of him that are in us. He loved his family and his friends more than anything. No two bars from this batch look exactly the same... just like no 2 relationships he had were exactly the same.
This bar is unscented & costs $4.20
Fresh is a batch that I really think Connor & his friends will love. Connor loved a blend that him and I put together which is a blend of a few different citrus essential oils & we rounded it off with vanilla. He used to use this body butter many times... I am considering making this body butter for the shop- all things in good time. The different colors are very similar to something Connor would have also loved.
This bar cost $6.00
The profits from these soaps will be set aside and will be either donated in his name or saved for something that will pertain to him.
